Blessing
Today I am thankful for the amazing blessing of the priesthood in my life. For some very odd reason, I got back from FHE tonight and my lower back was KILLING ME. Literally. I could not move, I could not stand, without being in absolute agony. So I took some ibuprofen and then laid down. That did nothing. I just sat there and cried because it hurt so bad. I couldn't roll over or anything, I just laid there like a dead thing while Connorie did everything she could to help. After half an hour, she was nice enough to call Mitch for me and ask him to come give me a blessing. He was a great sport and came over with one of his roommates to give me a blessing. I have never been so grateful to have worthy male friends!! It was weird getting a blessing from someone other than my dad, but it's so amazing to know that it doesn't matter who is giving it to me, they are getting the power from Heavenly Father who knows exactly what I need. Within half an hour I've been able to actually sit up and move. It still hurts, but it is amazing what a blessing can do for you when you think the pain is just going to kill you. Thank you so much Mitch and Sean for being worthy and willing to help me out tonight, you guys are great!!

Randomly happy today :)
Today I'm thankful for a couple things. I'm thankful for my dad, he can fix everything and is always super patient with me even when I'm being an idiot. (Tires get bigger in the snow, right Dad? Um...no Sloan...It's cold, what happens to things when they get cold? ...oh yeah...they get smaller..except ice..) He can solve every problem and never gets frustrated. He is the most patient man I know. I have never heard him ever yell at my mom. He is someone I really look up to and is always a great example to me. I owe him so much and hope that I can be more like him someday.
I'm also grateful for human's ability to overcome difficulties and adapt. I had another great weekend with Erik and I'm just amazed at the progress he's made and how many battles he's won in the last month. The human mind is incredible and scary at the same time. He gets better everyday and I am so grateful for every second I have with him that I'm able to do the simple things like hold his hand or be close to him. It's hard to understand unless you've been there, but to me, the little things I've always been able to do with guys I've dated mean so much more with him since I can't take them for granted.
Yay for being grateful :)

I'm thankful for...
I am so glad that the boy I'm dating is also my best friend. Personality is so much more important than looks. Of course, I think he's extremely attractive, so I got double lucky :) It's Thanksgiving month, so I think I'm going to start posting something everyday I'm grateful for. And today I am extremely grateful for a best friend that cares about and loves me. I know he would do anything to help me and would be there for me at 2 a.m. in the morning if I needed him. He always knows how to make me smile when I'm feeling down and always is there to hold me while i cry. He is funny and thoughtful and makes sure I know he cares. He will always say sorry and always forgives. He lets me talk to him about anything and everything, and makes me want to be a better person. I owe him so much for all the good he's brought into my life. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it. No regrets.
Thanks for being the bestest friend I could ask for Erik :) I'm so excited to hang out with him tonight and see him. I never get to spend enough time with or talking to him.
I'm also grateful for Nicky this week, for always listening to my long stories and letting me facebook stalk people on her account :) she's been a really great friend to me this schoolyear.
Love love love you guys. Thanks for everything! :D

Music on the Mind
Today I love listening to Chris Brown. I love remembering the memories attached to certain songs. Sitting in his car and having him show me I Love You, having her tell me the story behind Say Goodbye, what makes it special to her. Hearing With You and having someone in mind. Listening to Dreamer with him singing along. Remembering 8th grade health class listening to Kiss Kiss. Driving to pick him up for the dance listening to Crawl. Singing with her to So Cold in Darth Vadar.
I love having a song you can call yours, thinking about it and having it mean something to you in a way that no one else has ever had it mean to them. I love that certain artists will always remind you of one person, no matter what happens. Sean and Coldplay, Elise and Basshunter, Erik and Avril Lavigne, Brady and Owl City, Ali and We Shot the Moon, Sam and Relient K, Josh and Billy Joel, Connorie and Colbie Caillat, Mike and the Jonas Brothers, Scott and Faber Drive, Mitch and Making April, Laura and Taylor Swift.
Music is just so amazing. You can be having a good day or a bad day, and no matter what you are feeling, you can find at least one song that perfectly describes the emotions you can't express in words. It's a mixture of harmonies, melodies, instruments, voice, and feeling. When nothing else can tell someone how you feel about them, a song can.
I'm really loving some of the new Taylor Swift songs. I love that they are straightforward and say it how it is. My favorites are Dear John, Haunted, and Last Kiss. I don't like her voice as much as some other singers, but she is a very talented songwriter.
I wish I could take traits from other people and have them for myself. I wish I could put on a happy face when times are hard like Nicky can. I wish I could have determination to overcome adversity like Erik can. I wish I could know that happiness is a choice like Laura does. I wish I could be as optimistic as Elise. How do you stay happy in the face of being alone? How do you look past all the hard stuff and find the good stuff that makes life worth living? I want to make friends up here, I really do. But it's just not that easy, is it? But I'm supposed to be up here at college, I know I am. I hope I can find someone up here that is always here for me.
